Wireless security

The State Press released an article "Official: ASU wireless network open to hackers" in its October 9, 2009 edition. The article may lead users to believe that ASU's wireless network is insecure. The University Technology Office (UTO) would like to re-assure the community that every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of users on ASU's wireless network.

It's important to note that wireless connections are generally less secure than wired network connections. All wireless networks have vulnerabilities, but there are many ways to protect your data online. For more information on how to stay safe online, visit http://getprotected.asu.edu/basics
